We all have these moments when we feel a bit sluggish, lack motivation and while there is tons of things on your to-do list; you rather crawl in bed and watch Netflix all day. You know… one of ‘those days’.
Sometimes you just need to take a step back, chill out and SUPERCHARGE yourself so you can get up and kick ass again!
Here are my 7 powerful tricks to supercharge yourself!
1. Send oxygen to your brain
The easiest way to instantly supercharge your brain, is by simply providing it more fuel. How are you supposed to do that? Easy… You can do it at any time wherever you are and it is totally free!
By doing a breathing exercise or simply taking a couple of deep breaths you supply your brain with valuable oxygen which leads to more concentration, less stress and you release endorphins which makes you happier and more energetic. It needs practice though. The more often you do breathing exercises the more benefits you will notice from it. You’d be amazed of how much you can influence your mood, concentration and motivation by simply controlling your breath.
Basic belly exercise in practice:
- Sit or lie down in a comfortable position.
- Put one hand on your belly and the other one on your chest.
- Take a deep breath through your nose while pushing your belly out. While doing this, don’t move your chest and take in as much air as you can.
- Breath out through your mouth while using your belly again to push all the air out.
- Repeat 10 times slowly.
2. Do the annoying tasks you’ve been procrastinating
*(Procrastinating in Dutch= ‘uitstellen’). This ‘supercharge yourself’ trick sounds probably like meh. Am I right? But… you might have built some negative feelings inside of you by procrastinating tasks you hate. Well, you’ll have to do them anyway so just get up, put some cold water in your face, get a coffee and deal with it.
Instead of feeling like ‘ugh I gotta do these things’, you’ll feel like ‘Yes I’ve done it’. Now you can truly relax or do fun things without any negative feelings stuck inside of you.
3. Get your daily dose of sunshine (or vitamin D)
When you feel a bit down for no reason it might just be because you are lacking the important vitamin of the sun. Did you know that most people have a vitamin D shortage? Especially if you live in Northern countries with less sun like eg: Belgium.
Supercharge yourself with minimum 15 mins of sun daily. If this isn’t possible then take a supplement. Your mood won’t only improve but your hair will grow better, you get stronger nails,… in other words you really supercharge yourself. That’s def a YES for me!
4. Take action to get motivated
Most people wait until they are motivated before they take action. What most people don’t know is that it actually works the other way around. Once you take action motivation will start flowing. What is it that you are looking motivation for? Is it starting a business? Is it writing blog posts? Is it getting fit?
Tell yourself to do something for just 15 mins and then see how it goes. Often you start with the intention to do just a little bit and before you know you’ve done way more than you expected. It works the same way with exercise. I often don’t feel like working out at all but once I’m at the gym, I get into my flow and end up doing a beast workout.

5. Dance like nobody’s watching
Sometimes you just gotta shake it off. I love to go crazy sometimes and dance like nobody’s watching. Put on your fav music and just move your body whatever way it feels good. That is totally allowed. Your blood starts flowing and the stress will melt away.
6. Get your blood pumping
Get your blood pumping and send oxygen to your brain (read trick 1) for a true power boost. Exercise releases endorphins that automatically make you happier and give you energy. You know how you can get tired from just laying on the couch? Well then it’s time to move!
If you don’t feel like working out then just go for a walk or do a little workout Remember trick 4! Action creates motivation.

7. Take a break and spoil yourself
The best trick of them all! Take often the time to recharge your batteries. Put on a face mask and take a hot bath, do a movie night or go out with friends. Whatever makes you feel good and is not related to work or reaching your goals. We all deserve to unwind and let our hair down sometimes cause hey life isn’t easy but you are doing great!
Burden by tons of responsibilities, all the messages forcing itself on you daily and the pression of goals that are waiting to be achieved… you wouldn’t for less wanna shut down sometimes. But hey… that is totally normal. Next time you feel like ‘blah’ then know that you can take control over that feeling and supercharge yourself.
We all have days you feel better or worse. Just take it easy and don’t be too hard on yourself. Take it step by step and take care of yourself.
